REGISTRATION

Q.   Who may attend the conference?
A.   Those who register for the conference. Access to all conference activities, including scientific and poster sessions, is restricted to meeting registrants only. Badges are required for entry to all conference activities.

Q.   I am having difficulty with registering on-line. How else may I register?

Q.   I want to attend the conference but missed the deadlines. May I register in person on-site on the day of the event?
A.   Registration (and seating) is on a first come, first served basis. We recommend you register by the deadlines (Early Registration is June 15-October 31, 2004; Regular Registration is November 1, 2004 - January 11, 2005; Late registration by mail must be postmarked by January 28, 2005; Late registration on-line, by fax or phone ends February 7, 2005, 12:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time). Afterwards, walk-ins accepted on a first come, first served, space availability basis. Seats will be sold at the event only if there are openings. Q.   I see that you are offering scholarships to UCLA students only. I am a student currently attending school, but not UCLA. Will there be scholarships for non-UCLA students?
A.   No.
Q.   I am only able to attend on one of the days, not all three. Would I pay a reduced registration fee?
A.   No, the registration fee is a flat fee; it is not prorated. All attendees pay a full registration fee, regardless of the number of days they attend.
Q.   I registered for the conference but, down the road, I may have a schedule conflict that prevents me from attending. What is your refund policy?
A.   Written requests for cancellation and refund must be faxed or postmarked by January 11, 2005 (less a service charge of $50). Please fax your refund request to: UCLA CTO (310) 206-7540. Alternatively, mail to: UCLA Central Ticket Office, PO Box 24607, Los Angeles, CA 90024-0607. A full refund of the registration fee will be issued if the conference is canceled, discontinued, or rescheduled. Q.   I lost my ticket for the event. How do I get a new one?
A.   Contact UCLA Central Ticket Office, PO Box 24607, Los Angeles, CA 90024-0607. The phone number for CTO is (310) 825-2101; the Fax number is (310) 206-7540. Be prepared to provide proof of identification.
Q.   What is included in the registration fee?
A.   Daily breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks as well as admission into the Keynote presentation.
Q.   I've registered. Will I be receiving anything in the mail?
A.   If you live in the U.S., you'll receive, by U.S. mail, a confirmation sheet within one month of registering.
Q.   I live outside of the U.S. and registered for the conference. How do I find out if my registration is confirmed?
A.   International attendees may find out their confirmation status by contacting the UCLA Central Ticket Office by phone at: (310) 825-2101, or by e-mail to [email protected]
Q.   Will I receive anything on the day of the conference?
A.   Yes. On the day of the conference, you will receive a conference packet, which includes (1) your name badge, (2) conference program, (3) evaluation form, (4) a ticket for the conference, (5) a ticket for the Keynote presentation, and (6) information on the meals.
Q.   Who is the Keynote speaker?
A.   To be identified (in process).
Q.   I will not be attending the conference, but I am interested in attending the Keynote presentation. Do I need to register to be admitted to the Keynote presentation?
A.   No. For those who do not attend the conference but are interested in attending the Keynote presentation, you do not need to register to be admitted to the Keynote presentation.
Q.   How do I get a seat for the Keynote presentation?
A.   Tickets for the Keynote presentation will be available to the general public through the UCLA CTO. Details on Keynote presentation will be updated on our conference website, www.thefpr.org/conference2005/keynotetickets.php and www.thefpr.org/events/savethedate.php
Q.   Do I have to wear my badge each day of the conference?
A.   Yes. Your badge is your proof of registration, and is included in the conference package that you will pick up on the day of the conference. You will not be admitted into the conference venue if you do not bring and wear your badge.

ACCREDITATION/CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION (CME)

Q.   Who is eligible to receive continuing medical education credits for attending this event?
A.   Only licensed psychiatrists (M.D.) and psychologists (Ph.D. or Psy.D.). Please be prepared to provide your license number at the day of the event.
Q.   I am not a licensed psychiatrist or psychologist, but I would like to receive continuing medical education credit for attending this event. Would I be able to receive CME credit, too, for attending this conference?
A.   No, this event provides accreditation only to licensed psychiatrists (M.D.) and psychologists (Ph.D. or Psy.D.).
Q.   How many continuing medical education units would I be able to earn from attending this activity?
A.   Up to 20 continuing medical education units.
Q.   How long does it take before I receive my CME certificate?
A.   Up to 6 weeks after the conference.

Q.   Where may I park my car on the day of the event?
A.   At UCLA's Parking Structure #4.
Q.   How much does parking cost?
A.   $7 per day.

Q.   Where will the conference be held?
A.   Korn Convocation Hall (scientific and poster sessions). Korn Convocation Hall is located in Entrepreneurs Hall, within the Anderson Graduate School of Management. Q.   Where will the Keynote presentation be held?
A.   Korn Convocation Hall.

ACCESSIBILITY/SPECIAL NEEDS

Q.   I use a wheelchair. Will the venues be wheelchair accessible?
A.   Yes.
Q.   I am visually impaired and I use a seeing-eye dog. Will I be permitted to bring my seeing-eye dog to the conference venues?
A.   Yes.
Q.   I was not able to find a babysitter but I'm registered for the conference. May I bring my children to the conference?
A.   No. Unfortunately, conference seats are reserved only for confirmed registrants.

AGENDA

Q.   I see that there is a conference and there is a separate Keynote presentation. Why are they separated?
A.   The conference contains the scientific sessions as well as poster sessions. The Keynote presentation is a special extended presentation.
Q.   So who is the Keynote speaker(s)?
A.   The Keynote speaker(s) has not yet been identified; for updates, please check out the conference website, www.thefpr.org/conference2005/keynotespeaker.php or the FPR website www.thefpr.org/events/savethedate.php.
Q.   The conference agenda contains several sessions. What scientific areas will be covered in the presentations?
A.   Anthropology/culture, biology/neuroscience, psychology, and psychiatry (including clinical studies).

SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS

Q.   I have questions to ask of some of the presenters during the conference. Will I be permitted to ask them?
A.   Yes, time permitting, during the discussion period at the end of each scientific session.

POSTER SESSIONS

Q.   I would like to present a poster at this conference. What do I need to do?

Q.   What is the deadline for submitting a poster abstract?
A.   December 6, 2004.
Q.   When and how will I be notified if my poster was selected for presentation?
A.   Poster presenters will be notified by e-mail between December 2004 and January 2005.

ACTIVITIES DURING THE CONFERENCE

Q.   Am I allowed to bring a tape recorder or video camcorder to make a record of the conference and Keynote presentation?
A.   No. Audio and visual recording of conference and Keynote presentation content by attendees is not permitted.
Q.   Will conference attendees be permitted to bring food and drink into the conference venues?
A.   No.

AFTER THE CONFERENCE

Q.   I have questions or comments for some of your presenters that I was not able to ask during the conference. How may I reach them after the conference?
A.   Please see contact information in your conference program.
Q.   I really enjoyed the presentations of some of your speakers. How may I obtain copies of some of their articles?
A.   Articles from the presenters will not be available at the conference. However, we encourage attendees to contact the speakers directly, either through the contact information included in the conference program or in person at the conference.
Q.   Will you be publishing anything based upon the presentations from the conference?
A.   We will be producing an edited book with chapters written by conference speakers.

Q.   Is the conference a tax-deductible educational activity?
A.   Please check with your tax professional. The FPR and UCLA (including CTO) do not offer tax advice.
