Brandon Kohrt and colleagues in the multi-national collaborative “IDEA” project have developed and tested a “risk calculator” for depression. In this video, Brandon briefly discusses results from Brazil, UK, Nigeria, and Nepal, and then moves on to the qualitative study for IDEA in the four countries to gauge reception to possible use of a depression prediction tool. He also shares insights yielded from this endeavor. Brandon’s presentation is followed by a discussion of the complex social/political/moral/ethical landscapes around what it means to tell adolescents and their families about the likelihood of developing depression.
